Technology
Technology constantly changes in the world of dentistry. As new developments and equipment become available, our dentists consider implementing them into our practice to improve the dental care we provide.
Listed below, you will find some of the ways we use modern dental technology to give you the best dentistry and patient comfort available.
Digital X-Rays
New digital technology offers many benefits over film x-rays:
- Exceptional safety with up to 80 percent less radiation
- X-ray alterations of exposure and contrast for a more accurate image
- Elimination of the need for chemicals that can negatively impact the environment
- Instant results that are viewable in treatment rooms
This technology gives us high-resolution images available at our fingertips that we can compare over time and send securely to your insurance company or any specialists, should the need arise. Digital dental x-rays are super safe for our patients due to minimal radiation exposure.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
At Roots Dental, patient comfort and happiness are number one. That is why we offer several forms of sedation in our office to meet your needs.
For many patients, nitrous oxide sedation is the most convenient choice because it does not have a long recovery time or require that you have a ride home from your appointment. Nitrous oxide, also called laughing gas, is a mild sedative that we deliver through a small nose mask. Once we discontinue use, you will feel normal again within a few minutes.
Intraoral Camera
Have you ever wondered what the dentist sees when they look inside your mouth? With our intraoral camera, we can show you exactly what we see.
The camera is a small, handheld device that captures the image of a single tooth and allows us to display the picture on our treatment room monitors for you to see. We can show you areas that have cracked teeth, gum recession, or wear. That way, you know the whole story when making decisions about your smile.
3-D Cone Beam Imaging
Part of the success of oral surgeries such as dental implant placement and tooth extractions happens in the planning portion of treatment. By determining your bone density and structure and identifying other anatomical landmarks, we can provide more precise treatment resulting in a better outcome.
With 3-D cone beam technology, we can plan your entire procedure before we even begin. 3-D cone beam imaging works with computer software to allow us to view your teeth, bone, and jaw anatomy in its entirety.
For dental implants, that means selecting the precise location that will best support your dental implant and the force of chewing. A 3-D image provides us with the most accurate representation available for your surgery. For extractions, we can identify nerve involvement or potential issues with your other teeth, resulting in a more successful surgery.
