Dr. Jonathan Gold , DMD
General Dentist
Dr. Gold graduated from OHSU dental school in 2010. Immediately following this, he and his wife moved to New Orleans, LA where he practiced for 9 years. There he treated mostly underserved families. This experience taught him to work with his patients to find personalized solutions to their needs. During those years, Dr. Gold also spent time volunteering at LSU dental school, working with first-year students starting to enter the field, furthering his passion for teaching and dentistry. Dr. Gold was born and raised in the Portland area and grew up with a love of skiing, wakeboarding, flying kites, and riding motorcycles. For college, he went to Whitman College and received a degree in Rhetoric/Film Studies and a Science degree from Portland State University. When not at work you can find Dr. Gold at the park with his son, Asher, cheering on his 49ers, or cooking. “I am very excited about the opportunity working at Roots Dental can provide me to expand my scope of practice and bring my brand of humor and lightheartedness to this office.”
Dr. Calvin Rhoads, DMD
General Dentist
Hailing from the cornfields of Northeast Ohio, Dr. Rhoads’ love for lifesciences began with his time spent outdoors. During his high schoolsummer research internships at the Cleveland Clinic, he discoveredhis passion for the intersection of science and health.
After earning a Microbiology degree from Ohio State University, Dr.Rhoads realized that dentistry was his true calling. He continued hiseducation at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, followed by ahospital-based residency at Oregon Health & Science University, thenclinical special care fellowship training with the Lee Specialty Clinic.Eager to serve a community in need, he called the remote town ofHaines, Alaska home for three years. When not fishing or frolicking with bears, Dr. Rhoads could be found at the only dental clinic in town, serving patients from their first year to their last. He also hosted the region’s only adult special care clinic, with hospital privileges and a residency teaching appointment in nearby Juneau.
In pursuit of sunshine, Dr. Rhoads then transitioned to Western Colorado to deepen his understanding of oral surgery and denture care by serving as a corrections dentist and a mobile geriatric dentist. He cherishes the opportunity to provide comfortable care and beautiful smiles to those who need it most.

Dr. Clark Brinton, DMD
General Dentist
Dr. Brinton graduated from the OHSU School of Dentistry in 2013 as the class valedictorian. During his third and fourth years, he was selected as one of two students to train under Drs. Stanley Malamed and Ken Reed in IV sedation as a member of their mini-residency program.
He practiced general dentistry in New Mexico from 2013 to 2017, devoting much of his practice to IV sedation and dental surgery, including dental extractions, removal of impacted wisdom teeth, and dental implant surgery. Dr. Brinton credits his high level of experience and education in a short time to his commitment to continued professional education and training.
