Gum Disease Treatment in Broadway (Portland Area), OR
Here to Keep Your Smile Strong from the Roots Up

Why Gum Disease is Damaging
If you’ve been following health news, you may have seen growing research on how gum health is closely connected to overall wellness. Beyond increasing the risk of tooth loss, inflammation from periodontal issues has been linked to serious health concerns, including heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, and even complications during pregnancy.
Recent studies also suggest a potential connection between gum disease and Alzheimer’s. That’s why at Roots Dental Portland, we include a thorough periodontal screening as part of every preventive visit—measuring the spaces between your teeth and gums to monitor for early signs of concern.
Signs and Symptoms of Gum Disease
Between dental visits, you can help maintain healthy gums by brushing and flossing carefully every day. At Roots Dental Portland (Broadway), we encourage patients to stay alert to changes in their oral health. If you experience any of the following symptoms, it’s important to schedule a visit promptly:
Gums that bleed or feel sore
Receding gumlines
Persistent bad breath
Loose or shifting teeth
Sensitivity in your teeth or gums
Signs of infection, such as pus around the gumline
Several factors can influence your gum health, including medications, systemic health conditions, dry mouth, and even your diet. Regular dental care and good home habits work together to keep your smile strong and your gums healthy.
